What Photography Club is like in school

Photography Club teaches camera basics, composition, lighting, and post-processing. Most schools start members on school DSLRs and lenses. Serious students invest in own camera by Sec 3.

Activity rhythm

  • Weekly session, 1.5-2 hours.
  • Field shoots at parks, events, urban locations.
  • Some schools enter ETS (Embassy of the Triangle) and CCA-level photo competitions.

The school provides

  • DSLR cameras and a set of lenses (kit + portrait + telephoto usually).
  • Editing software access (Lightroom / Photoshop).
  • Coaching.

What parents buy

  • SD card × 2 (64GB SanDisk Extreme or similar).
  • Lens cleaning kit (solution + cloth).
  • Padded camera neck strap.
  • Lightweight tripod (Sec 3+, optional).

Watch-outs

  • Phone photography is good practice — but understanding exposure on a DSLR shifts skill faster.
  • Don't post school photos publicly without consent — privacy and school IP both apply.
