Hockey is played on artificial turf. Sticks are usually loaned by the school for new players; serious players buy their own. Compulsory protective gear: shin guards and mouthguard.

What Hockey CCA is like in school
Hockey is played on artificial turf in the NSG. Sticks are loaned for new players; senior players invest in their own. Shin guards + mouthguard required.
Training rhythm
- 2-3 sessions per week, 2 hours each — usually after school in the school hall or field.
- Competes in the National School Games (NSG) — Jan to Sep season, with C / B / A Division play.
- Peak intensity during NSG season; off-season is technical / conditioning work for hockey.
The school provides
- Game jersey + shorts.
- Loan sticks for new players.
- Turf access for training.
What parents buy
- Mouthguard (Shock Doctor or similar).
- Shin guards (hockey-specific).
- Turf shoes (non-marking sole).
- Own stick (Sec 2 onwards — composite for budget; carbon for serious players).
Watch-outs
- Turf shoes only — football boots damage artificial turf and slip on it.
- Don't buy a senior-grade stick at Sec 1; sticks are sized to height and skill — coach guides.
