Outside the school, Qihuaians should also remember to project the good name of the school by behaving properly and observing traffic rules. They should also be courteous and considerate to all members of the public when they are in public places. School Uniform Students are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modification to the uniform is not allowed. **Qihuaians have integrity. ** Theft/Extortion* Qihuaians do not take things that do not belong to them. Cheating* Qihuaians do not : ● copy or attempt to copy another student’s script. ● bring unauthorized materials into the examination room or ● refer or attempt to refer to notes, textbooks, workbooks. Qihuaians are honourable and are responsible for their actions. Forgery ● Qihuaians do not alter marks or statements. ● Qihuaians do not forge the signatures of others. ● Qihuaians use only their personal user identities and passwords. Gangsterism Qihuaians do not join gangs. **Gambling** Qihuaians do not gamble. Smoking or possession of tobacco products/ Substance abuse. Qihuaians do not smoke, carry tobacco products or take drugs. Possession of Weapons Qihuaians are not allowed to have any weapons in their possession. They are also not allowed to bring any weapon-like items which can be used or intended to be used to cause harm to others. Qihuaians show respect. Students who are Singapore Citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the pledge. Students will take the pledge with the right fist over their heart. All students must attend and stand at attention during the flag-raising / lowering and pledge-taking ceremonies. Regular Attendance Qihuaians attend school regularly and attend all classes. Truancy Qihuaians are absent from school with a valid reason/Medical Certificate. They will submit their medical certificates/parents’ letter to their form teachers upon their return to school. Punctuality Qihuaian are in the assembly area / classroom before the flag-raising ceremony. Outerwear ● Qihuaians wear their school uniform proudly during the flag-raising ceremony. Brightly-coloured/designed windbreakers/sweaters would be removed before the start of the ceremony. ● Caps should only be worn on Learning Journeys or Immersion Trips. Accessories ● Qihuaians do not wear jewellery and expensive watches. ● Qihuaians wear only badges and collar badges that are approved by the school. ● Boys should not wear earrings/studs/sticks. Girls are allowed to pierce only their ears. They should have only one pair of earrings/ear studs. Body Art and Cosmetics ● Qihuaians do not wear makeup to school. ● Qihuaians do not sport tattoos on any part of the body. Religious Jewellery Qihuaians do not wear religious jewellery when they are in uniform. **Behaviour in School ** Qihuaians are well-behaved in public e.g. bus stops and shopping malls. They do not behave in a manner which brings the school into disrepute. Open Defiance ● Qihuaians always obey persons of authority. ● Qihuaians do not use vulgar language nor show obscene gestures. Responsible use of mobile devices To nurture students to be responsible and discerning users of technology and to ensure the well-being of all students, Qihuaians will act in accordance with the following guidelines when using mobile devices in school: ● The usage of all mobile electronic devices (e.g. mobile phones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches etc.) during school hours and CCA time is restricted and should only be used under direct teacher supervision for educational purposes. ●Usage of mobile devices is allowed only at the security guardhouse or canteen after dismissal for communication with family members. The devices are to be switched off at other times. In the classrooms, smartwatches should only be used for checking of time. It should not be used for any other purpose (e.g. entertainment, communications etc). Students will turn in all smart devices to the teacher before assessments and examinations. ● Camera or any recording functions will not be used at any time within school so as to protect the privacy of all students and staff. ● Be responsible for the safe-keeping of mobile devices. The school will retain the mobile devices for any non-compliance in usage. Parents will be informed to collect the mobile devices from the General Office. The school will not be held responsible for any loss or damage of mobile devices. Consequences for Misuse of Mobile Devices First offence: Verbal warning will be given, and teachers will take the mobile device for safekeeping until the end of the lesson. Second offence: Teachers will take the mobile device for safekeeping until the end of the school day. Mishandling School Property * Qihuaians handle all school properties with care. ● Do not play with fire. ● Throw litter into the dustbins. ● Do not deface the furniture or school walls. ● Use PE/ICT equipment appropriately and with permission. View, download or publish appropriate content. Bullying * Qihuaians do not cause hurt through: ● Verbal abuse ● Cyber-Bullying ● Physical abuse ● Emotional abuse Qihuaians report all bullying cases. Bringing Banned Items* ● Qihuaians bring only materials that are necessary for school. ● Qihuaians do not bring anything that is against the Singapore Law. ● Qihuaians must not bring things that will disrupt teaching and learning in class (e.g. toys like boomerang). ● Qihuaians must not bring things that may cause bodily harm to someone, e.g. knives. Consequences The school will take on a restorative discipline approach and decide on a plan of action to address any infraction of the school rules.
