Code of Conduct and School Rules Morning Assembly Northshoreans who are Singapore Citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the Pledge. Students will take the Pledge with the right fist over the heart. Students who are not Singapore Citizens are expected to stand at attention and observe the flag-raising and pledge-taking ceremony with respect. Attendance It is compulsory for every Northshoreans to attend school. Absence from school must be supported by a medical certificate from doctors registered with the Singapore Medical Council. Students who are in school and not feeling well must inform their teacher. Late-coming Northshoreans must be punctual for all activities. Students who reach school after 7.30 a.m. are considered late. Their parents will be informed after three incidents of late-coming. From the fourth incidence of late-coming, their names will be recorded and submitted to the School Leaders. Regular late-coming will affect the studentsâ conduct grade at each semester. Leaving School during Curriculum Hours School hours are from 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. No student is allowed to leave the school during curriculum hours without being accompanied by a parent/ guardian. Attire and Grooming Proper attire and grooming have a positive impact on the image of the school and the students. Every Northshorean must project an appropriate and well-groomed appearance and wear the school uniform with pride. Northshoreans are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modification to the school uniform is not allowed. Students should not wear jewellery, ornaments or fashion accessories. Uniform consists of: ⢠School T-shirt ⢠School skirt/School shorts ⢠School PE shorts are be worn only on days when there are PAL and/or PE lessons. ⢠School T-shirts must be tucked out. ⢠School skirt should be knee length. ⢠The name tag of the student should be sewn below the school crest. ⢠The uniform is to be worn with black shoes and white socks. This approach encourages students to be accountable for their actions and empowering them to exercise better self-control and self-discipline in future. It also helps the child to recognise that we address specific behaviours as the problem, and not the child.
